CoolerMaster Real Power M850

Introduction

CoolerMaster became famous due to their excellent high end cooling solutions and computer chassis, however lately their reputation as power supply designers is also coming to the fore. Our experience with their Real Power M series would certainly prove this to be justified. We recently tested the M700 and M1000 units and found them to be some of the best available at their respective power output. If you couple this with the modular design and classy looks it is easy to see why they are selling so well in the enthusiast market.

Today we are going to review the Real Power M850 supply – a high end unit for gamers and power users.

Packaging and Bundle

The Real Power M850 unit is supplied in a secure cardboard box with minimalistic artwork at the front, but the sides and the rear are littered with specifications and features. Inside the box the PSU and its accessories are all packed together tightly and are protected by Styrofoam pieces at all sides.

The bundle of the Real Power M850 is better than that of the M700 and equivalent to the M1000 unit. There is a very detailed manual which is written in 9 languages and they also supply black 3M screws for mounting the PSU, additionally there is a case sticker with the CoolerMaster logo and an aluminum keychain-bottle opener.

Furthermore, the cables of the unit come in a rolling case. You can place all of the cables you are not using in the case, roll it and store it away rather than throwing all of the cables in a box or drawer somewhere. Of course these have nothing to do with the performance of the unit itself, but the attractive bundle is reason enough for some to spend a little more and buy the M850 instead of the M700 unit.
