Corsair Obsidian 800D

On First Page2. Box, Bundle & Packaging

For as long as we can remember Corsair’s name has been synonymous with high quality performance memory. Their modules always had great performance and build quality as well as an industry leading warranty which created well rounded products which were hard to fault.

In recent times Corsair has expanded their product range more than most component companies and not always with items we would expect. Their Ice T30 is a prime example of this, a couple of years ago the thought of Corsair releasing a memory cooler based on TEC technology would never have occurred to the majority of people.

Their expansion into new market areas has been very successful so far. Their PSU line for example has won numerous awards on Driverheaven and across the net thanks to their exceptional build quality, reliability and warranty. The warranty length alone (5-years) tells its own story about how confident they are in the long term durability of their models.

Today we have a product on our review bench which is Corsair’s latest foray into a new area. The Obsidian 800D is an enthusiast orientated PC chassis which at first glance has the makings of a fantastic product. Today we find out if Corsair has yet another success on their hands or if their latest product expansion is a step too far.

“Obsidian – Noun – a volcanic glass similar in composition to granite, usually dark but transparent in thin pieces, and having a good conchoidal fracture.”
