AMD 8 core Bulldozer will support DDR3 1866

This morning we spoke with an AMD partner who gave us information on the upcoming 8 core Bulldozer CPU which is codenamed Zambezi.

This CPU is going to be a 32nm part which is in AM3r2 packaging and will have 8 megabytes of L3 cache onboard. Rumours are that it will support DDR3 1866mhz and possibly even DDR3 2000 – both of which are not yet recognised standards in the industry. As this processor is not scheduled for release until Q2 2011 we are sure that these standards will be considerably overhauled anyway.

There are also rumours that AMD have incorporated a new boost technology similar to Intel’s turbo but details right now are scarce – the name we hear is ‘APM Boost Technology’.
