Apple to add 50 stores in 2010

Apple Inc spoke to a Heaven Media reporter earlier today and said they were planning on opening around 50 retail stores in 2010 as they plan huge expansion to reach new customers.

Around 60% of these stores are aimed to be launched in the USA with more planned for London, Paris and two in Shangai. This will be added to their current portfolio of 280 stores which operate in 10 countries across the globe.

These stores have been a huge success story for Apple and since they were launched in 2001 they reach a massive audience worldwide – Apple recorded 46 million store visitors in Q3 of this year which is a 7 percent increase when compared with the same period last year.

The all important figure is the income and when taking each store into a total figure and averaging out the end result they are turning over around $26 million … each. Ron Johnson, Apple’s Senior Vice President of retail said that this translates to an figure of $4,300 per square foot.

While most companies in 2009 have been hit hard by the recession, Apple show no signs of slowing up with 25 percent increases in revenue in the last quarterly reports. Their laptops, mobile phones and media players remain a great source of income for the Cupertino giant.
