Dell showcase Android based Mini 3

We spoke to Dell today and they told us they are ready to get into the smartphone sector with their Android Based Mini 3.

Dell have finally broken silence on this product and the first two carriers to sell the Mini 3 will be Brazil’s Claro and China Mobile. The Mini 3 is set to use Ophone, China Mobile’s custom version of the Google Android OS. “We are excited for Dell to be among the first manufacturers to introduce new technology based on the OPhone platform,” said a China Mobile representative.

Dell have not yet given any pricing information on the phone and they seemingly want to wait until the phone hits retail before releasing that information – the first of which should hit in a few weeks time.

The phone has a 3.5 inch HD touch screen and that WiFI would be introduced later.

“Our entry into the smartphone category is a logical extension of Dell’s consumer product evolution over the past two years,” Ron Garriques, president of the Dell Global Consumer Group, said in a statement. “We are developing smaller and smarter mobile products that enable our customers to take their Internet experience out of the home and do the things they want to do whenever and wherever they want.”
