Google add new mobile movie search app

Google are launching a small but significant upgrade to enable users with a mobile phone to find movies in their area without having to trawl through a plethora of loopholes. This new movie search feature will be available for the iPhone, Palm WebOS and any Android powered smartphone.

With this latest addition Google are keen to promote continual small but important improvements to their search engines as well as offering UI tweaks with bigger and darker icons. Users simply have to go to and search for “movies” on their smartphone and then click on the “more movies” link. Options then include a list of the movies that day with the ability to isolate specific cinemas by location or name.

This movie listings page even allows the smartphone user to watch trailers and get ratings and posters, upcoming show times and a list of theaters by distance.

Additionally you can touch the poster or movie title to find out more information on the movie in question, such as a synopsis, cast and crew and even images.

This upgrade is part of just many upcoming and new additions for the search engine giant to make sure they cover as many bases as possible. With Microsoft’s BING starting to gather a slightly larger following recently it is important they pull out all the stops to make their interface and options as thorough and easy to use as possible.

The movie search options will be offered in the USA, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
