Iphones worth $3 million stolen

Belgium was home to a major theft at the weekend when crooks stole over 3,000 iphones from a warehouse –  this amounted to around $3 million U.S. (2 million euros).

The handsets were stolen from CEVA Logistics in Wllebroek and according to reports from our sources the thieves merely had to climb a fire escape ladder to get to the roof of a warehouse then cut a hole into the roof to make off with the goods. We have heard from local police that they suspect the robbery was helped by inside knowledge of the delivery and the exact location of the iPhones. Ceva has declined to comment on any details regarding the case, but a local paper has reported they said they “were seriously annoyed by the intrusion”. Bit of an understatement we reckon.

This theft has came as a bit of a blow to Mobistar who were already having issues keeping enough stock for customers of the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS before the robbery took place.

Unfortunately for the thieves Mobistar officals have stated that they know the serial numbers of the Apple phones and can block them from accessing their network – although we are sure the crooks will easily hack the phones and ship them abroad to defeat this.
