MS get questioned by shareholders about Apple

Every year Microsoft hold a shareholders meeting and on Thursday CEO Steve Balmer was under the spotlight in a Q&A session. From what we have heard several shareholders laid into the executive over weakening public persception with the ‘next generation’ of enthusiast user.

“I’m just wondering why your marketing group cannot make moves to try to rein in the next generation of consumer, because you’ve got a real bad image out there” one shareholder noted.

Balmer said that opportunities for improvement did exist and he admitted there were a group of buyers who weren’t really targeting Microsoft products. When asked about Apples growing marketshare he said: “it is important to remember that 96 times out of 100 worldwide, people choose a PC with Windows, that’s a good thing.”

Chairman Bill Gates was present but he didn’t field or answer any questions in the meeting – he was merely an observer.
