Apple have top selling desktop and notebook computer

Apple’s new range of computers are selling extremely well in the USA with the new iMac and 13 inch MacBook Pro outselling all competitors in October.

According to statistics from the NPD Group released to Cnet, Apple has fully taken advantage of declining PC sales in the run up to the Windows 7 release in October by selling huge amounts of the new 21.5 inch iMac which took top place – the 27 inch version reportedly came in third, which is no mean feat considering the price.

The entry level MacBook Pro was also the top selling notebook and Apple claimed four of the top ten sales positions in the US for notebook sales with 1st, 8th, 9th and 10th.

Unfortunately NPD didn’t release detailed statistics on the sales figures but claims are that Apple sales are up a whopping 45 percent in October thanks in part by the well received iMac Core i5 and i7 machines which are selling very strongly since their release. Apple profits are up 46 percent in Q3, to $1.67 billion.
