Atom platform to get DDR3 support

Product image

While Intel are releasing the Atom N450 in January (clocked at 1.66ghz) they plan to release the N45x and N47x CPUs later that year with support for DDR3.

As this will still be a ‘netbook platform’, the DDR3 support will be clocked much lower than other arenas and initial reports we have heard are claiming DDR3 in the 667mhz speed range with support for two SODIMM slots. Further options include a module attached to the motherboard with an extra expansion slot available for the end user to upgrade later.

Release dates for the DDR3 Atom platform has not been confirmed but we would assume that it will get shown at Computex in June 2010.
