Dell lay off 700 workers

A few of our forum members mentioned to me about some rather weird pricing issues on Dell recently and this morning I read an interesting article from Brandon Hill at Dailytech which seems to insinuate that these errors may well be more ‘intentional’ than genuine errors.

Dell have plans to make 16 percent of their 4,500 workforce redundant in Malaysia which translates to around 700 people being put out of a job by the end of June 2010. Deals site Slickdeals also noticed some weird errors, such as a mouse being listed at $4,000 and a 3.2ghz dual core Xeon 5060 processor being offered for $10.99. Other processors got listed for ridiculously low prices, such as a Xeon L5430 at $12.99.

Flipping to the other side of the coin however, a normally relatively inexpensive Dell Studio 1735 was listed at $21,000, although it has recently been removed from the store.

Genuine errors or caused by irritated employees? I guess we will never know.
