Google Netbook a possibility?

Google Netbook a possibility?

Product image

Our sources in the far east have heard of rumours that Google may in fact be releasing a new netbook in 2010. We already know of the upcoming Google Phone (Nexus One) which staff members have been testing so this isn’t such a far fetched proposition.

We hear that Google are working with leading computer manufacturers over hardware specifications and design in a very similar fashion as they did with HTC for the Nexus One smartphone. Rumours suggest that the netbook would be branded with the Google name and sold directly to customers.

Specifications are obviously rather thin on the ground however TechCrunch’s Michael Arrington has suggested that an ARM processor and nVidia Tegra graphics might be used instead of the usual Intel Atom CPU with integrated graphics.

Some insiders have mentioned the possibility that Google may in fact be opening a Google Store – we can certainly say that advertising the machine would not be an issue for the search giant as they could easily start including it on specific search terminology.
