McAfee Threat predictions for 2010 target Adobe

Product image

According to security firm McAfee Adobe are going to overtake Microsoft as the prime target for virus writers and hackers in 2010. This isn’t such a shock as Adobe’s applications already come under fire from many malicious code writers – with recent attacks on Flash and Acrobat Reader making the news.

McAfee also predict an increase in the severity and density of attacks aimed at users who frequent social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. They also mention that banking based Trojans will step up a gear and become more deadly and possibly even more sophisicated. The security firm also predict that botnets, the main source of cyberattacks are likely to move towards a more ‘peer to peer’ based structure that will be much more difficult to stop.

All in all, it makes for grim reading and hopefully McAfee predictions don’t all come true.
