nVidia back the FTC action again Intel

Outspoken nVidia CEO Jen Hsun Huang has praised the Federal Trade Commissions decision to take legal action against Intel. Huang claims that nVidia GPUs have lowered the requirement for more raw CPU power and they in fact do pose a threat to Intel’s monopoly.

Jen Hsun said “Intel has responded to this competitive challenge by embarking on a similar anticompetitive strategy, which aims to preserve its CPU monopoly by smothering potential competition from GPU chips such as those made by Nvidia…This is an action the industry needs and one that consumers deserve. And it’s one that can completely transform the computer industry”

Jes Hsun is firmly behind this action which will aid the graphics sector as ATI and nVidia develop more GPGPU technology to lower the requirement for massive CPU powered systems. More on this statement at CNET
