Napoleon Total War release date

Having gone gold earlier in the week, Napoleon : Total War now has an official release date and fans of the series will not have to wait long, until just February 23rd in fact.

The release date wasn’t the only thing our good friends at developer Creative Assembly had to say about Napoleon Total War either, with erstwhile veteran game producer Mike Simpson also adding to his Sega blog today with more juicy titbits of information, although most of it was about why they chose Napoleon in the first place.

The full blog can be read here, but for the lazy, the highlights include “weve put about 4 times as much effort in to it as we did for BI. The vast majority of the content is completely new. Some of the battlefield buildings and textures are the same as is some text no reason to change them but all the other graphics and data is new.” On top of that, you wont need to have Empire Total War in order to play the new Napoleon game.

Simpson also pointed out that fears about the code are without foundation, “code wise all areas of the game have advanced from Empire, there are a fair number of new or changed features, and the game has the same kind of twists to the game-play that weve done to make it play quite differently. The character focus also gives it quite a different feel. And of course by keeping the historical scope reasonably limited weve made sure we deliver better quality code on day 1.”

Napoleon Total War is out on February 23rd and make sure you check back for some exlcusive Total War updates in the weeks to come at GH.
