Introduction

Back in September 2009 ATI/AMD launched their Radeon 5870 and 5850, these cards were the first to be based on their DirectX 11 capable core and they received great praise from end users and the press. Since then there has been a steady release of products as the 5000 series was expanded to include the more affordable 5770/5750 and the enthusiast orientated 5970. Each of the 5000 series products gave ATI industry leading features and some aggressive pricing ensured that there was little reason to buy competitors’ products, at least in the $120+ marketplace.

Today ATI/AMD are launching the first sub $100 (512MB) and $120 (1GB) DirectX 11 capable products in the shape of the Radeon 5670.

We will be running the latest addition to the Radeon range through a selection of real world gaming and media tests to find out how it fits into a very competitive marketplace which includes the GT 240, GTS 250 and Radeon 5750.
