FIFA World Cup 2010 Details Revealed

The decision by EA Sports to release a World Cup tie-in so soon after releasing FIFA 10 may have upset a few people even if it didn’t come as a surprise. After all, it is something that has happened since the franchise began. However, some details have been revealed today that may placate some of those who purchased the latest version of FIFA.

Screenshots have been revealed that show the game has been subject to some graphical enhancements although the game mechanics remain untouched. The game itself, full title EA Sports 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, will feature all 199 teams that took part in qualifiers as well as a full World Cup campaign mode. This will allow users to either play as one of the qualified teams, or re-write sporting history, which may be of particular interest to Republic of Ireland fans.

The stadiums in the game will be all ten of those that will be used at the real event and the game will feature new cut scenes specific to World Cup pageantry.

Release is expected on April 30th across Europe, with the United States seeing it three days earlier. It will be available on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PSP.
