Samsung and Hynix Pioneer NAND Flash

Samsung and Hynix have closed the gap to Intel in the NAND flash market. Intel unveiled plans to start producing NAND Flash at 25nm last week as reported by Hardware Heaven.

“The new chip will allow us to double our productivity when compared to what we achieved with the 30-nanometer products by dramatically reducing cost,” according to a quote in a Korea Times report.

NAND Flash is used in a wide variety of electronic devices including mobile phones, computers, laptops and set top boxes. According to Samsung you can expect the new lower power, higher performing and higher density chips to come out in the second quarter of 2010 (Summer 2010).
