Date Set For USB Memory Support On Xbox 360

Speculation was rife as to whether Microsoft would be making a u-turn on their decision to offer external hard drive support for the Xbox 360 after a leaked document was reported on in the media. Now the date has been set as the 6th April when the firmware patch will arrive.

After the patch USB flash drives will be able to store data such as saved games, player profiles and even full games. It will support up to two 16GB storage devices being plugged in at once. External USB hard drives will be compatible, but the console can only utilise 16GB of the disk.

Any USB flash drive can be used but Microsoft has already partnered with ScanDisk to release a branded alternative. No timeframe on that as of yet though.
