If your brand new Apple iPad battery does not hold a charge – fear not Apple will replace the whole iPad for $99 charge plus $7 for shipping.
Not only that but Apple will not allow you to save your data and the iPad must be in good condition before the battery is swapped with a new iPad. No, you will not be able to keep your other iPad.
The extra charge for the battery replacement is an add-on service but doesn’t include other faults.
“Your iPad is not eligible for Battery Replacement Service if the product has been damaged, for example, as result of an accident, liquid contact, disassembly, unauthorized service or unauthorized modifications, or if the product is not operating correctly as a result of a component failure,” says Apple.
The Apple iPad should be covered for battery replacement in Europe as the EU has stricter laws on warranties for new products.
It probably costs less for Apple to have its users potentially break their iPad by trying to replace the battery than to charge $99 for a battery that probably costs a quarter of that for Apple to source. We wonder what will happen with all those extra iPad’s though.
