Ubisoft DRM Was Attacked Over Weekend

In a move that caused outrage among large sections of the PC gaming community, Ubisoft’s DRM now requires players to have a continuous connection to the internet if they wish to play games, even in “offline”, single player modes

Over the weekend there seemed to be technical difficulties that resulted in PC players of Assassin’s Creed 2 and Silent Hunter 5 being left unable to play their game. The company released a statement attributing the problems down to outside attacks:”Ubisoft would like to apologise to anyone who could not play ACII or SH5 yesterday. Servers were attacked and while the servers did not go down, service was limited from 2.30pm to 9pm Paris time [1.30pm – 8pm GMT].

95 per cent of players were not affected, but a small group of players attempting to open a game session did receive denial of service errors.

We also confirm that, at this time, no valid cracked version of either Silent Hunter 5 or Assassins Creed II are available.”
