ARM, known for its efficient and small chips wants to enter the server market.
Traditionally a market that is not known to be experimental ARM seems to think they will be able to enter the market. ARM’s own CPU’s are now becoming high performance with speeds of up to 2GHz and with single, dual and quad core designs being implemented by partners.
ARM believes it can be competitive in the server market and encourages companies to experiment with using ARM chips in a server environment. EETimes spoke to the CEO Warren East.
“We are seeing people experimenting with multiple ARM cores on a chip. They have the option to use our A9 at 2-GHz, and four cores. So people can do server experiments with the existing technology at the high-end of the road-map.”
