Psyko 5.1 Gaming Headset Review

Psyko 5.1 Gaming Headset

When Hardware Heaven attended CES 2009 there were multiple occasions where friends and colleagues approached us saying we had to visit a particular stand to see a new product which was winning design awards. That product was the Psyko 5.1 Gaming Headset from Alberta based Psyko Audio Labs. Back then we listened to what they had to say about their unique new product and a quick demo allowed us to see, in a less than ideal environment, that this was indeed a rather interesting product. So upon returning to the office we immediately began the process of arranging a sample to test in an environment which was more suited to gaming.

Flash forward 12 months and Psyko were demoing the same headset at CES 2010 but it had not yet hit the market in any significant quantity. Feedback from the show floor was still positive and so we continued our quest for a sample, noting that the prestigious Reddot panel had awarded Psyko for their design.

That brings us to today where we have a retail sample of Psykos 5.1 Gaming Headset connected to our test system. We will be putting it through a number of real world tests to find out if all the fuss is justified and whether this unique approach to true 5.1 audio is a success.
