GTX 570 vs Radeon 6850 CrossFire

Throughout this review we have tested the GTX 570 against the GTX 470 and Radeon 5870. The reason for this is that we are firm believers in putting single GPUs against single GPUs. That said, we also appreciate that many people see the 6850 CrossFire which has just received a price drop in many stores as an appropriate comparison and so we have tested it in two of the benchmarks which featured earlier in this review. This will give an indication where the AMD system sits in comparison to the GTX 570.

For our first test we run Crysis Warhead at 1920×1080 with enthusiast settings. Civilization 5 is then run at the same resolution with maximum detail and 8x anti-aliasing.

As the above results show, in games where there is a working CrossFire profile the 6850 pair performs at a level which the GTX 570 OC cannot reach. That said we should also consider that the CrossFire system requires over 400w at load with many models being louder than the single NVIDIA card.
