H.A.W.X. 2 – DirectX 11

HAWX 2 was recently released for PC and makes significant use of Tessellation as well as being a DirectX 11 title.

Testing was performed at 1920×1080 with 8x anti-aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering. All in game settings were at their maximum level.

We are using the retail version of HAWX 2 for our testing and a section of real world gameplay rather than the benchmark which was released by Ubisoft in advance of the games release. With all detail levels set to their maximum and tessellation on we see that this is a game where AMD continue to underperform and interestingly this is despite some significant optimisations to Tessellation in their most recent drivers. Performance has increased on 6900 series cards and could be tweaked further using the new control panel options but this doesn’t result in enough of an increase to bring it up to the level of the GTX card.

In addition to that we also have some great stereoscopic 3D performance on our system, averaging 59fps and rarely dropping below this.
