Roccat Kulo Stereo Headset Review

Conclusion

Looking first at the build quality and design of the Kulo there is a lot to like about the product. The slightly rubberised finish on various sections of the headset look great and have a quality feel. In addition to this the Kulo feels solid and well made with impressive angular looks that don’t rely on the garish colours often used by other manufacturers.

There are however a few tweaks we would have made to the product. Firstly some way to fold it up would have benefitted LAN gamers and secondly the use of leatherette for an on-ear design isn’t ideal. Essentially after any sustained period of use they can begin to stick, something that doesn’t occur with fabric pads.

In terms of performance the Kulo do well. Weight wise they are comfortable and a decent level of pressure is applied to hold them in place. In addition to this very little nose leaks in from the outside world, ensuring we remain immersed in our games, music and movies. Sound quality was also good with plenty of detail present and decent bass when required.

Roccat have priced the Kulo appropriately at £49/€59 where they offer an alternative to larger stereo headsets. Further value could have been added through the inclusion of a travel bag, again something which would have appealed to gamers who attend LAN events.

Summary
As good an on-ear headset as we have used the Roccat Kulo gives gamers a good alternative to more expensive full sized headsets.
