SiSoft Sandra allows us to see how a system performs in a set of synthetic tests which ensure repeatable comparisons across a wide range of products.
To test the USB performance of the products we connected an OCZ Enyo portable SSD and tested read and write speeds on the systems USB 3.0 ports.
Starting with our SiSoft Sandra performance test we see the M18x achieve some impressive figures, looking at memory first it is essentially level with the M17x R3 which we saw score 15GB/s in a previous review. Hard drive speeds are also decent thanks to the 7200RPM drive which exceeds the performance possible on 5400RPM models and USB 3.0 read and write operations are up at desktop level. There is no performance penalty when using our USB devices on a mobile system.
