A couple of weeks ago Sapphire proved that there was still some significant life in the 6950, even 6-7 months after its launch, by releasing a custom version of the card with enhanced cooler. They are not the only manufacturer who focus on improving on the AMD design though and today on our test bench we have PowerColor’s latest take on the 6950, the PCS+ Vortex 2. It too has a custom design with enhanced cooling but this cooler is a very unique design, even for PowerColor.

Today we will be putting the 6950 PCS+ Vortex 2 and its unique cooler through a selection of real world gaming, multimedia and GPU computing tasks to see how it stacks up against some of the best competitor cards on the market.
