Enermax Platimax 1200W Power Supply Review

For those who read our recent MAXREVO review it should come as no surprise that the Platimax scores highly on the design and build quality front. All of the exceptional aspects of the existing model have been retained for the Platimax from the high quality finish on the outside to the great soldering, component choice and elegant, spacious design inside. The use of a compact and updated transformer helps keep clutter to a minimum and we also like the use of HeatGuard which keeps our fan running after shutdown to exhaust more heat from the system, CordGuard to stop accidental removal of the AC cable and love the idea of including a cable which has a mix of Molex and SATA power plugs… a simple addition which more PSU manufacturers should adopt.

For performance the Platimax exceeds the performance of the MAXREVO in every area, not by a long way on most readings but enough to make it a worthwhile consideration for those looking at the best model available for their money. Efficiency shows the biggest improvement, exceeding the Platinum requirement and past 1000w the AC Ripple, noise and thermal performance were all great.

Looking finally at the value aspect we have a unit which has a great bundle of extras, including one of Enermax’s very cool LED case fans and some nice storage bags and cable ties. They also give us a 5-year warranty on this PSU which is more than adequate but we will pay for the high certification and work it took to get there.

A phenomenal PSU that will power any enthusiast system while maintaining fantastic efficiency.
