Samsung 830 Series 256GB SSD Review

Back in the early days of consumer SSDs there were a couple of models released which impressed us greatly and one of those was manufactured and sold by Samsung. In fact drives based on the same architecture were seen as so reliable they were actually licenced and sold by other brands as well as being included in Dell and Alienware machines.

To this day our original Corsair P128 SSD based on Samsung technology is still powering a system at HardwareHeaven without issue, long after drives based on other controllers have died.

More recently we took a look at Samsungs 470 Series SSDs, an updated model which performed well for those on SATA 2 based hardware but didn’t quite have the speed to compete with SATA 3 models from the likes of OCZ and Intel. Today Samsung hope to change that with the launch of their 830 Series SSDs. The Samsung 830 Series SSDs use their latest performance architecture, bringing the products into SATA 3 territory and taking on Sandforce and Marvell for the enthusiast user market. Can they succeed? Let’s find out.
