Changes To PSN Usage Policy Restrict Downloads To 2 Devices

Sony has altered the usage policies for its PlayStation Network, cutting down the number of different PlayStation devices a downloadable product can be activated on following purchase.

Originally, content purchased from the PlayStation Store could be activated on a total of five PlayStation 3 and PSP devices.

However, the usage policies are due to change on November 18, after which point users will only be able to activate downloadable PS3 content on two PS3 devices, and downloadable PSP content on two PSP devices.

The company noted that the new usage policies will affect all PSP devices, including the PSP-1000/2000/3000 series as well as the PSPgo system.

These changes will be in effect for all content downloaded after November 18 — you’ll still be able to activate anything purchased before that date on five different devices.

The company also revealed that it will be launching a new account management website for the PlayStation Network, that will allow users to deactivate PlayStation devices attached to their PSN account via PC.
