ECS A990FXM-A Black Series Motherboard Review

A number of years ago ECS were very much a brand associated with no-frills low cost boards. The majority of their products focused on getting the basics right and ensuring that consumers had a stable product but at the cost of flexibility. That all changed with the release of their Black Series products though as the rage was designed to take on the likes of ASUS and Gigabyte in the enthuasiast area.

Since the original Black Series boards we have seen ECS make steady progress, each time improving and refining the products to match the more expensive offerings from their competitors. In fact we would highly recommend anyone building a new system give serious consideration to their boards.

Today’s review product is the latest to come from the ECS Black Series range and is their take on AMD’s 990FX chipset. This AM3 board is ideal for use with the new FX (Bulldozer) range of 8-core CPUs and features some excellent functionality such as support for SATA3, USB 3.0, Crossfire and SLI.
