SteelSeries SRW-S1 Steering Wheel Review

Over the last few years we have seen SteelSeries release some exceptional gaming gear from the great 7H headset and 7G mechanical keyboard to the more recent Sensei mouse which is one of our favourite products ever. They have also been responsible for some interesting and very much out of the ordinary products, thinking specifically of their World of Warcraft mice. The original WoW mouse sold so well that supply couldn’t keep up with demand and the followups, Cataclysm and Legendary Editions offered refinements and enhancements for WoW fans.

Now SteelSeries are branching out a little further with the Simraceway SRW-S1 Steering Wheel. This motion controller was co-designed by champion gamers and Indy 500 racers and is very much aimed at those who play Simraceway… but it also works with games such as F1 2011, Need For Speed, iRacing, GTR2 and DiRT 3. Today we take a look to see if SteelSeries can transfer their success with standard peripherals into the racing genre.

Packaging and Bundle

SteelSeries package the SRW-S1 in a box which puts the controller very much on display. We can see pretty much every detail of the device and inside we find a short manual and a voucher for $10 of in-game items to enhance our gaming experience.
