XFX Radeon HD 7950 Black Edition Double Dissipation 3GB Graphics Card Review

Earlier this month AMD allowed their partners to launch Radeon HD 7970 cards but sadly the majority were identical to the reference cards that AMD had released for review in December. This meant that in most cases, regardless of the brand bought there was no difference in experience for consumer… the same could have been said about reviews too as nothing much had changed from the AMD launch to the partner launch.

At the 7970 launch there was one manufacturer who managed to go the extra mile though, in a deluge of reference design cards XFX were able to release the Radeon HD 7970 Black Edition, a factory overclocked card with custom design. We looked at that card on launch day and found it to be exceptional. Now XFX are back with the 7950 Black Edition, another 7900 series product which features a custom design and factory overclock. We will be putting it up against the GTX 580, 7970 and 6970 in a selection of real world tests, including Battlefield 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic to find out whether it impresses.
