Tesoro Durandal Ultimate G1NL LED Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

Today we will be taking a look at a new backlit mechanical gaming keyboard from Tesoro, the Durandal Ultimate G1NL. Tesoro are a US company who produce a range of gaming peripherals for the PC market and in mythology Durandal was the sword of Charlemagne’s paladin Roland. The sword was said to contain various religious artefacts, such as a tooth of Saint Peter, embedded within its golden hilt and was used by Roland to hold off a hundred-thousand strong army, long enough for Charlemagne’s forces to retreat into France.

With a name such as Durandal Ultimate the latest product from Tesoro certainly has a lot to live up to and some fierce competition from the likes of Razers Blackwidow or Steelseries 7G. Let’s find out if it is an ideal alternative to more well known alternatives.

Packaging and Bundle

The Durandal is supplied in a large cardboard box that has a handy plastic carry handle. The front of the box features a large stylised graphic of the keyboard name, as well as a cutout section with a clear plastic cover that allows us to see part of the keyboard. The front of the box also highlights some of the key features of the Durandal, such as the 128KB on-board memory and finally there is a short paragraph highlighting the origin of the product name.

Turning to the rear of the box we find a large image of the Durandal, showing the keyboard in full backlit mode. Again we are shown the key features of the keyboard, and these are accompanied by a list of the technical specifications of the keyboard which are presented in a number of different languages.

Opening up the box find the keyboard is protected by a clear plastic cover. The keyboard itself is securely held in a cardboard housing, ensuring that damage during transit is not an issue. After removing the plastic cover the keyboard can be easily removed.

Provided with the keyboard Tesoro include a software/driver CD, a quick user guide and a pamphlet highlighting some of the other products they offer. The quick user guide is presented in English and gives us installation instructions as well as telling us how to use some of the key features of the Durandal.
