Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition and Radeon HD 7850 Launch Review

When AMD announced the 7900 series back in December they gave us a brief look at their planned roadmap for single GPU products. First up were those 7900 series cards which replaced the 6900 models at the top of the product stack. Following them we had the 7700 series models which were to sit in the mainstream space with existing 6000 series products continuing on below them for budget conscious consumers. This of course meant that the 7800 launch would see AMD bring to market a number of products to fill the $249-$349 price point.

Today AMD launch the 7800 series and allow us to look at their reference cards with partner availability to come later (around March 19th). With the same features as the 7900 series yet a significantly lower price today we find how well they compete with the 7950 and 6870 while looking in detail at the comparison with NVIDIAs GTX 560 Ti and GTX 570.
