OCZ Fatal1ty 1000w Champ1on Series Modular PSU Review
For a number of years now Johnathan Wendel, otherwise known as the legendary gamer Fatal1ty has been working with manufacturers to brand and shape components for enthusiasts. We can think of sound cards, graphics cards, motherboards which have all used the Fatal1ty band and by all accounts the products released sell well. Certainly the likes of ASRock and Creative have continued their relationship and now OCZ are releasing a new generation of products from their Fatal1ty PSU range.
Sitting at the top of OCZ’s recently announced Champ1on Series of Fatal1ty PSUs is the 80Plus Gold Certified 1000w model with modular cables and very distinct styling. We have that very version on our test bench today and will find out if gamers should be putting it at the top of their shopping list for new system builds… after all we all need a new system with AMD and NVIDIA throwing out new GPUs almost weekly.
Packaging and Bundle
Generally when we receive Fatal1ty branded products for review they use a red and black colour scheme for the packaging and product, the Champ1on Series PSUs are no different. The box features familiar design with key items noted such as the 5-year warranty, modular cables and 80Plus certification.
Inside we find the PSU suspended in foam, wrapped in plastic and then placed in a fabric bag for thorough protection. Also included is a bag to hold the modular cables.
Bundled with the PSU we also get the product manual, mains cable, installation screws and cable ties.
