We continue our gaming tests with a look at the recently released Star Wars: The Old Republic, a new MMORPG from Bioware and Lucasarts. Before we look specifically at the results though there are two points of note. The first is that as with all online games the benchmark runs will have a little more variance than single player titles which are easier to control in terms of repeated runs. The second aspect is that SW:TOR is capped at 112fps, something which really only affects 1920×1080.

So, with those points in mind we see that the cap does keep the 7970 and GTX 680 systems limited at 1920×1080, in fact the SLI system dropped below single card repeatedly… not that a minimum framerate of 70fps is disappointing. When we move to 5760×1080 the cards are able to stretch their legs and the benefits of SLI can easily be seen, matching the 7970 Crossfire system and scaling reasonably well over single card performance.

Here are examples of how the game looks at our tested settings.
