AMD Trinity Reference APU Laptop Review

AMD Trinity Reference Laptop Review

Back in January 2011 AMD released the first of their APU products to market. Called Fusion at that time the combination of CPU and GPU brought a new balance of power use and performance with it. Since then AMD have been busy releasing updated APU products for the mobile and mainstream/budget desktop space with recent models like the A8-3870K bringing us quad core computing mixed with DirectX 11 and the ability to dabble in some overclocking too.

Recently AMD announced their next generation of APUs with Trinity branding heavily featured. This new range of chips enhances performance and features and first to market is the mobile range, followed later in the year by desktop parts. Today we have AMDs reference mobile platform on our test bench to find out how the new A10 range performs in a selection of real world tests.

Packaging and Bundle

AMD Trinity Case

As this is a reference design system from AMD rather than retail we received it in some rather interesting packaging. Delivered to our door by courier was an unmarked metal briefcase with the laptop inside, suspended in foam and protective wrapping.

AMD Trinity power brick

Bundled with the system we found a 90w power brick and mains cord, enough to get us up and running essentially.
