PC Power and Cooling Silencer Mk.III 1200W Power Supply Review

Founded in 1985 PC Power and Cooling (part of the OCZ group) have more than a few firsts to their name. They have for example produced the first independently-regulated PC power supply, the first redundant power system, the first NVIDIA-certified SLI supply and the first One Kilowatt computer power supply with the company roots starting in cooling fans.

Back in November we took a look at one of PC Power and Coolings Silencer MK.3 600w PSU and found it to be a good product for that segment of the market; no surprise given our past experience with the brand. Now they are ready to launch a new high end model and we have one on our test bench.

The Silencer Mk.3 1200w is PC Power and Coolings highest rated model, matching the ageing Turbo-Cool 1200w at the top of the product catalogue. Today we find out if it has what it takes to compete at the high end of the PSU market.

PC Power and Cooling package the Silencer Mk.3 1200w in a box very similar in design to the 600w version we previously reviewed. Some key product details have logos on the front and there is plenty of information on the unit across the other sides. Inside we find the PSU surrounded by foam, wrapped in a cloth bag and sealed in plastic within.

Bundled with the Silencer is a decent manual, mains cable, screws and a set of cable ties.
