We start the performance section of this review with a look at some of the key system performance aspects of the XMG P722 and in doing so will be comparing it to a mainstream mobile gaming system based on i7 CPU, DDR3-1866, hybrid drive and 650M GPU to establish what the larger 17" form factor and its higher specification components can achieve for us.

In the first test, PCMark 7, we see that there are areas such as the CPU based tests where our XMG system performs at a similar level to a more mainstream model. Where we begin to see seperation is in scenarios where the SSD and GPUs come in to play. There the combination of true SSD and larger capacity storage drive plus dual GPUs which are installed in the larger chassis vastly improve performance.

In the other component tests we see that it would have been good for some DDR3-1866 to be installed, though 21GB/s bandwidth is still great and the SSD performance again shows in our SATA test where the P722 draws a little extra performance out of the Seagate hybrid drive with the Corsair Neutron drive running close to the limit of SATA 6GB/s. Finally on USB 3.0 performance we again see strong performance from the P722s chipset.
