In this test a mechanical drive such as the Barracuda XT or VelociRaptor score around 2.0/1.5MB/s which gives us a baseline figure for performance.

Benchmark Results

The result in this test will go some way to showing how responsive a drive will be in Windows use as the operations performed are similar to the random reads and writes regularly performed by the OS. In this test we see a significant change from the first tests with the M5M offerning decent, but not exceptional performance when compared to desktop equivalents. Once again though, compared to a previous generation mSATA drive the results impress.
