OCZ Vertex 3.20 240GB SSD Review
It doesn’t seem like it but just over 2 years ago OCZ released their second generation of SSDs based on Sandforce technology. The Vertex 3 was class leading and since then OCZ have expanded the product family with models such as the Max IOPS or Agility 3 which varied the components.
Additionally since then OCZ have moved on with their SSD ranges, first releasing the Indilinx branded Vertex 4 and more recently the Vector. That drive sits at the high end of OCZ’s product range but high end products don’t appeal to all. There are a large number of consumers out there looking for the best price performance ratio and OCZ feel that one of the best ways to satisfy those needs is to take the an older (but not necessarily outdated) range and tweak the model to minimise costs. Enter the Vertex 3.20…
Packaging and Bundle
As with the midrange Octane SSDs OCZ package their Vertex 3.20 in a plastic packet that allows us to see the majority of the SSD. Inside the cardboard insert we find some product documentation and a sticker. Then from OCZ’s website we can download their toolbox software…
Through that application we can check the status of our drive, wipe it with Secure Erase to return to a fresh state or update the drive firmware for fixes and performance enhancements.
