Palit GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost Overclock Edition Review
Last month NVIDIA launched their fastest GPU to date in the form of GTX Titan. In fact the GPU in Titan is the fastest gaming chip, bar none and it also offers an interesting alternative to dual GPU configurations. Today though NVIDIA is looking to fill a bit of a gap in the middle of their product stack with a new model, the GeForce GTX 650Ti Boost and on our test bench we have an overclocked model.
We’ll be putting it through a selection of the latest games, including Crysis 3, Tomb Raider and StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, to find out how it compares to a selection of similarly priced products from AMD and NVIDIA. What exactly is the 650 Ti Boost?
Given that NVIDIA already has a card available under the GTX 650 Ti name it should come as no surprise that the GTX 650Ti Boost is a very similar product with the Boost functionality featured on their higher end cards enabled. So we have a GK106 GPU here and while the original was clocked at around 925MHz this new model sits at 980MHz and will adjust its GPU speed as required, clocking up to 1033MHz.
As an added boost NVIDIA have also moved to a 192-bit memory bus on the new GTX 650 Ti instead of the 128bit specification on the original. And finally the GTX 650Ti Boost brings SLI support to the 650 family, allowing us to combine two cards for higher performance.
As well as retaining all of the key features from the GTX 600 series such as 3DVision, PhysX, Adaptive V-Sync and TXAA the Boost edition also supports industry standards such as PCI-Express 3.0 and is a DirectX 11 card.
