SanDisk Extreme II SSD (240GB) Review
A few months ago we reviewed one of SanDisk’s SSDs, the Ultra Plus which was designed to give a great balance of price and performance. It won our recommended award and so we were interested to see what would be next from SanDisk. That question was answered a few weeks ago when SanDisk released the Extreme 2. Based on a Marvell controller with SanDisk flash today we find out how it competes with the best drives in its class.
Packaging and Bundle
Our review sample of the Extreme 2 arrived in a large press kit box however the retail models will likely use a similar box to the Ultra model which is shown above. In terms of bundle there are two options, a Notebook kit shown above which has a bracket for systems with 9mm form factor bays and a Desktop kit for those looking to install in a tower. If no 2.5" bays are available the tray in the desktop version converts 3.5" locations.
Also worth noting is that SanDisk offer their Toolkit as a free download, allowing us to monitor and maintain the drive.
