Home users would once have been happy with a single bay model to allow them to store some pictures or perhaps home movies. Now with the prominence of digital media and the ease at which new content can be created or used the line between home and small business requirements is becoming more blurry. Today on our test bench we’ll be taking a look at the AS-604T NAS from Asustor. Asustor are a relatively new entrant into the home and small business digital storage business however as a division of the Taiwanese PC giant Asus they certainly have the backing to make a big splash. The AS-604T is a four bay model, and sits right in the middle of what Asustor call the Power User/Small Medium Business range. This range goes from the 2 bay AS-602T, all the way up to the 8 bay AS-608T. So, let’s take a look at what the AS-604T can offer the home user and see if it make a worthy contender in the NAS rankings. Packaging and Bundle The AS-604T is supplied in a large, if plain cardboard box. There is a small picture of the product on the front of the box, along with the company logo. Along with the picture we find a note of the package contents and the specifications. Opening the package we find the AS-604T wrapped in plastic and secured by two large moulded foam plastic wedges. There is also a medium sized cardboard box within, which contains the additional items provided. Along with the actual NAS, we are provided with an AC power cord, and installation CD, 16 3.5" HDD flat head screws, 16 2.5" HDD flat head screws and 2 RJ-45 LAN cables. Pages: 1 2 3 4 Share On
