The Raptor M45 configuration software can be downloaded directly from the Corsair website, no CD is provided with the mouse. Once installed the software allows us to control the key functions of the mouse. The first section in the software allows us to control the action of the seven buttons on the mouse. It also provides us with basic macro recording that can be stored on-board the mouse.

The second tab in the software panel allows us to manage the performance of the Raptor M45. We are able to set the DPI from 50 to 5000 and configure three pre-set levels that are stored on-board the mouse. As noted earlier these can then be switched to on the fly using the buttons next to the scroll wheel. We are also able to set the polling rate and lift height on this screen.

The Raptor M45 also supports multiple profiles, which can be managed via the last tab. New profiles can be created, deleted or imported. These profiles can also be stored on the mouse via the on-board storage.

User Experience and Conclusion
Starting with the design of the Raptor M45, it uses a similar style to that of the higher end Vengeance mice in the Corsair range, the M65 and M95. The sweeping curves and soft touch finish create a very comfortable mouse that can be used for many hours of enjoyable game play. Additionally, the build quality is excellent which is no surprise for a Corsair product.

For a mid-range mouse the M45 has a good number of buttons to configure along with a very responsive 5000 DPI sensor. The ability to switch the setting on the fly is very welcome and one which works well during game play. The onboard profiles and macro storage also add to the overall product and while the software available to download from Corsair for the Raptor M45 is no frills, it covers all the options we would expect to see in a gaming mouse.

The price point of the Raptor M45 is around £40/$60, which is very reasonable for a gaming mouse of this quality and the 2-year warranty is acceptable for a mouse of this class too.

Writing Of Essay Summary
