Interview with MSI’s Tom Rawes

No problem at all!

Research Papers Child Abuse Before we get into detail on your products, what MSI hardware do you use (Notebook/desktop)? And why those models?

I have both a Desktop and a Gaming Notebook at home. I particularly like to do some casual Overclocking too so I have tonnes of hardware at home and a few test benches. My main rig is based around the Intel X79 platform with a Micro-ATX MSI X79MA-GD45 Motherboard combined with an MSI R9 290X GAMING Graphics Card. However, I like to colour-coordinate my builds so I will be replacing the i7 3960X X79 beast with a smaller Mini-ITX based PC featuring the new Intel Z97 chipset and i7 4790K Devil’s Canyon CPU. This build will be red and black themed of course using our latest Z97I GAMING AC Motherboard.

The number one reason I would say is that WE ARE GAMERS, and we have TRUE gaming Notebooks. The full MSI product line offers a variety of choices to suit every gamer’s needs. Every product is guaranteed the best with 100% in-house design, R&D, testing, manufacturing, and tech support. And MSI is the only brand doing this among other brands. MSI is also the most recognised by media. For example, up to April 2014, our GTX800M series models received more than 16 awards, which other brands cannot easily compete.

Our GT series is perfect for enthusiast gamers, especially gamers who pursue ultra-graphic details and look for the best gaming experience.

For GS series, these are highly sought-after by designers, engineers and yuppies. For those who seek stylish and powerful hardware to match their lifestyle, the GS Series is a brilliant choice.

For gamers who look for performance with good capability and price, I’d recommend GE, GX and GP series. GE and GX series are excellent for mid-range graphics needs, and GP sufficiently satisfies casual online gamers on a budget.

It took us some time cooperating with SteelSeries in terms of planning future R&D and marketing direction. We understand that providing high quality products to gamers is the core foundation for any gaming product and the only goal both shared by us and SteelSeries.

As well as that great SteelSeries keyboard you guys also use some well-known branded components such as Killer network hardware and Dynaudio powered audio which is always good to see. There is of course some notable MSI tech in your systems. Tell our readers a little about Audio Boost and how it could benefit them.

The MSI Audio Boost design enhances the output sound detail and sound stage by 30%. The gold audio jacks provide stable sound transmission (reduced obstruction) and works in conjunction with the optimised headsets AMP (Audio Power Amplifier) design, characterised by low noise and low distortion, to greatly enhance headphone performance.

That’s Audio Boost, what about Cooler Boost?

MSI Cooler Boost technology uses a thermal bridge to connect both CPU cooling and Graphics cooling together. Once the CPU or Graphics is hotter than the another side, the bridge can transfer the heat to another side faster, so the cooling performance is over 15% better under normal usage, chip temperature is down 15% at the same watts, and up to 25% lower noise.

Business Plan Writing Service Cost We saw with the recent release of the NVIDIA 800 series that you guys were ready from Day 1 with new laptops. The current buzz word in the display marketplace is 4K. Do you see MSI creating a laptop with built in 4K display in the near future?

Our Gaming Notebooks are built for gamer’s needs, and one of the most important features we care about is the display. Last year, we already adopted 3K panels in certain models. At COMPUTEX 2014, we also presented a 4K panel. We know being first to the market doesn’t equal to product quality and performance, therefore we really look forward to cooperating with the next generation of Intel and NVIDIA hardware for the best performance at 4K resolutions.

We talked earlier about what you use. Keeping in mind there are a few key gaming areas out there, such as First Person Shooter and MOBA/StarCraft etc. For those groups of gamers is there a MSI laptop that stands out as a must buy in your opinion? If so, what feature from the system most benefits the FPS players, and for the other system what most benefits the MOBA gamers?

It’s not for no reason that Counter Strike and StarCraft 2 have been so popular for years. Graphic details in-game, hardware and internet bandwidth are essential. For CS:GO and SC2 gamers, all series of MSI Notebooks (including GT/GX/GS/GE/GP) can suit their needs due to the fact that CS:GO and SC2 do not require huge CPU & Graphic resources like BF4 or Crysis 3. GE and GP are recommended for limited budget. Other popular competitive games like LoL and DOTA 2 are perfect for all series of MSI Notebooks too.

That’s not to say you can’t run the latest and greatest games like Watch Dogs, COD, GRID etc as mobile graphics are getting closer to desktop graphics than previously. Last night I was playing the new Sniper Elite 3 game on one of our GS60 Ghost Notebooks on high details and 1080p with no issue. I’m not a MOBA player myself (more-so FPS), but our latest Notebooks come with not only a SteelSeries gaming keyboard, but also SteelSeries’ SSE software to allow gamers to customise any key and create many macros which will help those types of games.
