Today we chat with Steven Na, Brand Manager at Red 5 Studios about their latest game, Firefall.
Q) Tell us a bit about yourself and your role within the business?
A) As the Brand Manager, I work primarily making sure that we market the game in a fun and engaging way. I have the unique opportunity to showcase the amazing work of our development team and showcase their creations to the world.
Q) Can you tell our readers a little more about Firefall?
A) Firefall is a free-to-play MMO shooter. It’s an open world that is truly wide open to exploration and we give you the tools to do so with jump jets, gliders, and vehicles. We have a rich and engaging story that is set on Earth that is being overtaken by and enemy called the Chosen, if that was not enough the world is being transformed by the Melding which happens to be a an evil energy that we are still trying to understand.
Q) What kind of gamers are going to enjoy Firefall?
A) All kinds of course! But if I had to limit it down, shooters and MMO players will enjoy our game, we offer a huge amount of content and even larger world for exploration. We have limitless customization opportunities as well as crafting, instances, dynamic events, and amazing live events where players can play with our Firefall devs.
Q) What are the recommended system specs for Firefall?
A) Windows 7 or 8 64 bit, Quad core @ 2.4 Ghz Intel or AMD Quad core @ 2.8 Ghz – AMD/ATI Radeon HD 4850 or Nvidia Geforce GTS 450, 8Gb RAM, Direct X 9, Broadband internet, 20 GB of space.

A) Windows XP or above, AMD dual core @2.6 Ghz, Intel Duel Core @ 2.2 Ghz – 4GB Ram, Nvidia 8600 or ATI 4xxx with 1Gb of Vram, Direct X9, broadband internet, and 20 Gb of available space
Q) As well as in game chat, tell us about your community and how players can interact with each other and the dev team
A) We have an amazing community team and development team that cannot stop playing our game. At anytime you can find devs playing Firefall. Our community team is hyper-active on social media, forums, and Steam community pages. Q) We know Firefall is free to play, can you give readers a bit more information on how the in-game economy works?
A) We strive to make our game accessible to everyone, being free to play we wanted to make sure that in no case we would have any potential for “pay to win.” We also want to make sure that absolutely everything is accessible, we have an in game currency that can be traded for red beans in which you can purchase all items even cosmetics and boosts.
Q) What do you feel are the key features of the game that will keep us coming back for more?
Mobility – Firefall gives you a wide set of tools from jump jets to gliders to explore, this changes the way you combat and how you explore the environment
Open world – In Firefall you can go anywhere at any time, there is no limit to your exploration. Whether it’s a high mountain or a deep cave, it’s all ready to explore.
Frequent major updates – Firefall is constantly updated with new content from new weapons, playable encounters, missions, events, cosmetics, new crafting items, and dynamic content.
Awesome action – Shooting is the core of Firefall and what is so different from other MMO’s. We truly offer an MMO Shooter with an open world.
Friends – Everything is better with friends, we have social tools, armies, squads, VOIP, everything you need to stay in touch with friends and an added value of being on the Steam platform.
Q) What can you only do in Firefall, what makes Firefall unique
A) Firefall is a game where you can snipe while you fly, bomb while jump jetting, and run over enemies on your bike!
Q) You just released update 1.1, what exactly is in this update?
A) New weapons, we added all new types of weapon elements with different damage types, new abilities, new events, and a bursting package of secondary weapons to build out your arsenal.
Q) Is there anything to share on future content? Fall 2014?
A) Yes, stay tuned, we will be adding a very special feature in the next month including a brand new game feature called “Operations” stay tuned to Firefall.
