Having issues with static when playing EVE Online and BF2142

Alright lately I have been getting cracking and popping on my speakers so I decided to switch to the Kx drivers instead of the ones for my Audigy 2 ZS. I changed it to 5.1 in the speakrrs output but now I get static and popping in my speakers when I play my games. I cannot figure out how to make Wave 4/5 my default device. I love these drivers cause before it was constant popping and cracking with creative's but with these it only happens every now and then, please help me configure this as Im new to these drivers. Im using 5.1 speakers from creative.

Also when I click on buttons on desktop I get a momentary popping or cracking

I'll suggest something but I'm not sure if it will help. Riught-click the kX drivers icon, go to : Settings->Setup buffers...

Change the size of the playback buffer to make it bigger. A tooltip with the name of a combo box shows up when you over the mouse over it.
